NeoAngelWink (Carrie Wink)
Interview by Anna Fischer
What does Cosplay
mean to you?
Having new experiences.
It’s a great way to socialize, you meet new
people and travel, and also you learn a lot of new skills. There is something
in it for everybody.
How do you decide what
costumes to make?
Well, often a costume
is needed for a skit, so I’ll make it for that.
When I’m cosplaying for myself it’s usually that the outfit is
really
great, or that the character clicks for me. Sometimes I get requests, and
when I
can I do those too.
What is the funniest thing
that ever happened to you while cosplaying?
As Tifa, I was using water balloons
to, umm, enhance my chest. I was on stage during the cosplay and it flew right
out of my shirt! It didn’t pop, it
just rolled off stage under the judges table.
What the hardest part of
being a cosplayer?
Time management. Just scheduling
everything so that all of the costumes
are done on time.
Do you have any advice
for new cosplayers?
Never give up and keep trying.
Just because you can’t sew the first time
you try doesn’t mean you can’t sew. Stick with it no matter what
happens.
What is Wearable Wink?
I have a small business making
hats for my college fund. I’m about 1/2
way there. I’ve sold more then 500 hats at conventions. It’s great
sewing
practice.
How do you come up with
your designs?
I follow what’s
popular, keep up with the cultural environment. But I
also make sure it’s original, that it’s me.
How does someone buy your
hats when it’s not con season?
That’s easy! They email spinykit@aol.com
with their order for a price
quote. |
